Nichelle Prince and Adriana Leon fired Canada to a 2-0 win over Jamaica in Kingston in the first leg of their Paris 2024 play-off.
Canada are on the cusp of earning the right to defend their Women’s Olympic Football Tournament title. Bev Priestman’s side beat Jamaica 2-0 in Kingston in the first leg of a play-off for a place at Paris 2024.
Nichelle Prince headed home the opener following superb work down the right from Ashley Lawrence. Rebecca Spencer, who dazzled at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023™, made several saves thereafter to keep Jamaica in contention, the pick of them from Adriana Leon.
The latter finally beat the Reggae Girlz goalkeeper in second-half stoppage time, however, a canny dink giving the Canadians a two-goal lead to defend in Toronto on Tuesday.
