Agustin Canobbio laughed as he told FIFA that he has an obsession: “I think about football 24/7. I don’t know if that’s healthy but that’s the way I like it.”
As he went on to explain, there is more to his “problem” than that: “When I started playing, I became very competitive. That’s the kind of person I am. Whether it’s card games, video games or whatever, I hate losing, and it’s the same on the pitch. I always want to win and keep on winning.”
While the symptoms sound pretty serious, Uruguay and Athletico Paranaense fans have no cause for concern. After all, every “condition” has its cure, which in this case is the drive and determination of the versatile 25-year-old to do whatever he can to improve as a player, whether it is adopting a gluten-free diet a couple of years ago or chatting to a coach about the mental side of the game.
