Joan Tincres bags brace in 3-0 victory over USA.

Joan Tincres was at the double as France made sure of top spot in Group E with a 3-0 victory over USA in Jakarta.

The result means France – who won all three of their matches in the section – will take on Senegal in the last 16, while runners-up USA will face European champions Germany.

An absorbing first half looked set to end goalless before France produced a moment of pure quality in stoppage time.

Mohamed-Amine Bouchenna made an superb run down the left flank and drilled in an inviting low cross, which Tincres powered home to put Les Bleuets in front.

USA had a golden opportunity to draw level shortly after the break. Cruz Medina was left in acres of space in the penalty area but his powerful first-time effort was brilliantly saved by France goalkeeper Paul Argney.

The Americans continued to battle hard in search of an equaliser but France – who have yet to concede a goal at this tournament – proved a tough nut to crack.

And they made maximum points secure when Tincres clinically lashed in his second goal of the night and Bastien Meupiyou headed in a third.

USA’s misery was compounded late on, as Tyler Hall was sent off for a last-man foul. The decision means he will now miss the Round of 16 clash with Germany, along with Paulo Rudisill and Noahkai Banks for an accumulation of yellow cards.
