Callum Hudson-Odoi reflects on his 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup win and discusses how the current side can follow suit in Indonesia.

“We were playing in front of 60,000 people at the age of 16, I don’t think that’s normal,” Callum Hudson-Odoi told FIFA, as he sought to describe the feeling of playing at – and winning – the FIFA U-17 World Cup™. It’s an achievement which the current crop of players are trying to replicate in Indonesia.

Ryan Garry’s men are riding on the crest of a wave created by the class of 2017. England’s tight 2-1 loss to Brazil on the final matchday – a result which still saw them claim top spot in Group C – was the first defeat for the nation at an U-17 finals since a 1-0 loss to the same opposition in October 2015.

Between those two narrow Brazil defeats, The Young Lions enjoyed a 10-game unbeaten streak, which included a maiden trophy win in 2017 and a record-setting 10-0 victory over New Caledonia for the current side.
