Kaya FC-Iloilo (PHI) 0-0 College of Asian Scholars (THA)

Kaya FC-Iloilo of the Philippines and Thailand's College of Asian Scholars settled for a 0-0 draw in their AFC Women’s Champions League™ 2024/25 Group B opener at the Pathum Thani Stadium on Sunday.

Kaya will meet Islamic Republic of Iran’s Bam Khatoon while College of Asian Scholars face Melbourne City FC of Australia next on Wednesday.

Both teams wasted early chances with College of Asian Scholars’ Beatriz pulling her long-range effort wide in the third minute, while Anicka Castaneda mistimed her shot from just above the box two minutes later.

Kaya came close to scoring just before the half-hour mark with Charisa Lemoran forcing a fingertip save from College of Asian Scholars keeper Yada Sengyong.

The home side were unlucky not to score in the 34th minute after a looping header by Stefani Cabral sent Kanyanat Chetthabutr face to face with Kaya keeper Inna Palacios, but her attempted lob was denied by the bar.

Dionesa Tolentin almost broke the deadlock for Kaya in the 39th minute when she collected Julissa Cisneros’ cross only to see her shot foiled by Sengyong.

College of Asian Scholars turned up the tempo in the second half but Chatchawan Rodthong, Karnjanathat Phomsri and Chetthabutr all squandered their opportunities.

Dionesa Tolentin then forced a fine save from Sengyong in the 58th minute, while Kanchanaporn Saenkhun’s glancing header from just inside the area needed the intervention of Palacios as both custodians were kept busy.
