Kuala Lumpur: Having first qualified for the AFC Asian Cup™ in 2019, Kyrgyz Republic will once again participate in the upcoming edition with Alimardon Shukurov a vital cog in their midfield.

Having started his career at Abdysh Ata-KSince bursting onto the national team scene in late 2019, the 24-year-old midfielder’s upward trajectory continues and he is now all set to appear in Qatar in just under a month.Born in the Ysak-Ata District in northern Kyrgyz Republic, Shukurov has gone on to make a name for himself and is now one of the country’s brightest talents.
ant, the youngster appeared in the AFC U23 Championship qualifiers in 2019 while the senior national team came calling soon afterwards.

In his first start for the seniors, the then 20-year-old put on a fine display going on to score twice in a comprehensive 7-0 victory over Myanmar in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers for Qatar 2022 at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek.

That year would turn out to be the changing point in his career with the midfielder starting to nail down a spot in the Kyrgyz national team midfield.

Shukurov scored two more international goals against Myanmar and Bangladesh while also turning out against the likes of Japan and Bahrain which gave him invaluable experience at the international level.

For his club side Neman, he became a regular and delivered consistent performances in midfield as his talent shone through in the Belarusian Premier League.

A fantastic calendar year was topped off by the Kyrgyz Football Union awarding the 2021 Player of the Year accolade to Shukurov.
The following year he was once again instrumental in crucial wins over Singapore and Myanmar before a goalless stalemate with neighbours Tajikistan sealed their passage to the AFC Asian Cup for the second successive edition.

This year he has carried on from where he left off as he scored his fourth international goal versus Russia before going on to show his growing stature in the national team when he captained them for the first time against Myanmar in a Tri-Nation Series match held in Imphal, India.

Shukurov also featured in CAFA Nations Cup clashes against IR Iran and Oman followed by a vital 1-0 victory at home against the latter in the Preliminary Joint Qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™.

Moreover, it is in club colours where he has been ever-present for a Neman side that was undoubtedly the surprise package in Belarus this season, recording three goals and five assists in 21 league appearances.

For a team that is largely a mid-table side and haven’t finished above fourth place since 2003, Shukurov & Co. revolutionised Neman helping them to a runners-up place.

Goals against Vaduz and Celje in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers was another platform to showcase himself on the continental stage.
His performances in Neman’s midfield haven’t gone unnoticed as he also picked up the Player of the Month and the Goal of the Month awards in August.

Now with national team duty calling again at the highly anticipated AFC Asian Cup next month, Shukurov will once again be keen to show why he is regarded one of the finest talents in Kyrgyz Republic when they face Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Oman in the group stage.
